The focus of our four-year-old program is to continue to encourage social growth while preparing students for kindergarten. We work with the students to teach them

upper and lowercase letters of

the alphabet, recognize simple words, identify colours, shapes and

numbers, complete sequences,

compare objects based on size,

shape, length, count from 1 to 20, and print their name.

Children must be 3.5 years old.

A Typical Day At Little Steps Preschool

Free Play: This is creative, child-led activity time where students get to learn through play with many of the various activities we have. They can play with sand/water tables, dress up, blocks, playdough, puzzles, games and creative arts.

Craft Time: Students let their creativity and imagination flow as they take part in a theme-related craft. They experiment with different textures, shapes and mediums and develop fine motor skills through use of scissors, glue, pencils, paint brushes and crayons. With craft time, we focus on the "doing", not the end result.

Gathering Time: Students review the months of the year and the days of the week, count out the date, and talk about the weather. They also sing songs, play music and listen as the teacher reads stories related to that month's theme.

Snack Time: Provides students with opportunities to practice manners, good hygiene, and conversational skills while promoting healthy eating. Snack is supplied for the entire class by parents on a rotating basis.

Gross Motor Development: Depending on the weather, students are either outside or inside our large room running, moving and playing active games.
